Mondavi Waives $10 Ticket Processing fee in time for SCSO's "Home for the Holidays"
The UC Davis Mondavi Center is offering a timely Christmas promotion:
No ticket handling fees in December! (Yes, there is a Santa Claus!)
Mondavi is waiving the $10 ticket processing fee for all tickets purchased online or by phone in December.Mondavi is also waiving the $1 per ticket print-at-home fee.
All the more reason to join us at the SCSO's Home for the Holidays performances.

The SCSO's Canticles of Praise, Saturday, Oct. 29 at 8 PM & Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 PM - Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
Some tickets will be available at the door at both performances.
The Sacramento Bee's Edward Ortiz has written an outstanding pre-concert feature entitled Choral Society Takes Up Classic Bernstein Work in the Living Here Section of the Sunday, October 23rd edition.
Ortiz includes comments from two Bernstein experts about Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and provides important background about the work with additional comments on Jongen's Mass and Mathias' Let the People Praise Thee.

Sacramento Choral Society Holds TENOR and SOPRANO Auditions for 2011-2012 Season
Would you like to sing Sir William Walton’s “Belshazzar’s Feast,” Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” great Cathedral classics, along with a spectacular Christmas concert? The Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra and Music Director Donald Kendrick are currently holding membership auditions for Tenors and Sopranos only for their 2011-2012 Concert Season. The chorus rehearses September through May on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM. The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra is celebrating its 16th year of performances in the Capital Region with concerts in the Sacramento Community Center Theater, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Fremont Presbyterian Church and the Mondavi Center. Join us for a blockbuster season continuing the tradition of large choral and orchestral works for the Sacramento community.
The SCSO is comprised of over 180 singers from six counties in the Sacramento region. An accountable arts organization since 1996, the SCSO has won numerous awards for its work in the Capital Region. The SCSO was recently chosen by KVIE as the subject of their recent PBS documentary for their uniqueness. (The documentary is streaming live at http://www.sacramentochoral.com/
As well as presenting their own concerts, the SCSO has produced 4 highly-acclaimed CDs and has also performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra, Sarah Brightman’s World Tour, the Kenny Rogers Christmas Show and on national and international concert stages in Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall, Europe, Canada and China. Art: Show for the ages at Temporary Contemporary
The Sacramento Temporary Contemporary, now in a terrific space on Del Paso Boulevard that used to house the Michael Himovitz Gallery, has upped the ante for other area galleries with a blockbuster show.
This monthlong offering – five shows by both established and emerging artists – is one of the strongest I've seen this year and is up through June 4.
In the main gallery, former Sacramentan David King presents a powerful group of totemic sculptures that take their inspiration from African tribal art.

Kendrick keen to perform Verdi Requiem on Saturday
The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra will bring the massive Verdi Requiem to the Mondavi Center in a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday.
“We have done the Verdi Requiem before, but never in Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center,” said conductor Don Kendrick. “Performing at Mondavi will give us a chance to explore more contrast in the dynamics, as compared to when we did the piece at the Sacramento Community Center Theater in the mid-1990s.
